This week capped off another successful Mass Spectrometry in Biotechnology and Medicine Summer School, with all students leaving with a wealth of mass spectrometry expertise, strong professional networks and suntans kindly gifted to them by the Croatian sunshine.
This year’s event saw over 33 students from institutions and companies from all around the world. This year’s syllabus covering a broad range of topics, from mass spectrometry fundamentals, mass analyzers, ion mobility, separations, -omics and data processing. Students also got to enjoy a series of workshops, including bottom-up proteomics & manual sequencing, data processing in Python, clinical studies and creating scientific graphics.
Students got to enjoy the sights and sounds of the very best of the Adriatic coastline whilst there, including a midweek excursion to Lokrum Island. The annual Faculty vs Student Volleyball tournament saw the students put up a valiant effort, but were ultimately no match for the Faculty. The Faculty are already looking forward to the student challenge in 2025! Thursday also saw our annual banquet dinner, this year provided by our hosts, the Centre for Advanced Academic Studies (CAAS).
