The cohort of students attending MSBM every year brings a variety of people from academia and industry. Increasingly, students want to hear directly from industry the kinds of skills that industry value. MSBM is fortunate enough to benefit from a number of faculty working in industry (AstraZeneca, Bruker, Shimadzu, Vibrat-Ion, Waters). This year, they kindly agreed to be on a panel, where students and faculty alike could discover the skills they value when recruiting. In addition to our industrial faculty, some of our industrial students also spoke about their experiences.

Back to back workshops saw Carolina Sanchez take students through LC Method Development tasks, whilst Ian Anthony saw students use Python to automate several tasks.

We were treated to a lecture from one of our sponsors, Bruker Daltonics, delivered by Dr. Goran Mitulovic. Goran took us through a number of new products, including monolithic nanoLC columns, proteoElute and the timsOmni, which features the Omnitrap system.

Students worked keenly into the evening finishing their exams again, with the last few working with faculty under torchlight. However, the evening concluded with a bang, the opening night of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival saw a spectacular firework display light up the sky. Students and faculty gathering on the hill to watch from afar, before heading into town to celebrate with evening drinks.
