In 2025, the Croatian Mass Spectrometry Society (CMSS) was founded.
Led by Dr. Mario Cindrić, Head of the Laboratory for Bioanalytics at the Ruđer Bošković Institute in Zagreb, CMSS aims to promote the development and application of mass spectrometry in the Republic of Croatia. The association brings together scientists, researchers and experts from the academic and industrial sectors who use mass spectrometry and related analytical techniques in their work.
“The CMSS are excited to promote mass spectrometry and allied sciences in Croatia, including collaborating with MSBM on educational initiatives” Dr. Mario Cindrić, President CMSS
MSBM’s history is intertwined with Croatian Mass Spectrometry. It was founded by Professor Jasna Peter-Katalinic, Professor at the Universities of Rijeka and Muenster, now emeritus. Our Croatian roots continue today with Dr. Ljiljana Paša-Tolić, a Laboratory Fellow at PNNL and Lead Scientist for Visual Proteomics – who has been on the Organising Committee since the beginnning in 2001. Dr. Mario Cindrić also served on the MSBM Organising Committee from 2008 to 2013, and remains a close friend and colleague of MSBM.
Dubrovnik has always been the home of MSBM, and we are thrilled to see the CMSS Founded to help support Croatian Mass Spectrometry.
“We look forward to working with the CMSS to continue the success of MSBM and help more Balkan’s students attend“, Prof. Dave Goodlett, MSBM Chair
Where better to learn Mass Spectrometry fundamentals & applications, share your work, and network with both peers and the members of our world leading faculty than in Croatia?. Registration for MSBM 2026 is open, so make sure you secure your spot!
