MSBM is please to release the first draft of our 2026 Program, which is once again packed full of highlights. We’re very fortunate to have another brilliant line up of faculty. You can read the full line up here, and you can read more about our invited faculty for 2026 here.
Below is an overview of what you can expect from each day of MSBM 2026. You can also hear about how one of our growing Alumni, Dr. Leah Amod (University of Cape Town) found her 2025 MSBM experience by clicking here.
Sunday evening: After registering and finding your accommodation, a welcome talk from the chair of our organising committee – Prof. Dave Goodlett, and a chance to set up your posters – our opening plenary this year will be delivered by Paul Trevorrow from Wiley Publishing – “Open Access and Artificial Intelligence in Scientific Publishing“. We’ll also have an ice breaker challenge, where faculty and students will get to know each other better.

Monday: Monday is all things fundamental, from MS instruments to chromatography, the close of Day 1 you’ll all be up to speed with the basics. We also get to enjoy a talk from our first Sponsor talk by Lyna Sellami of Shimadzu on MALDI.
Tuesday: Day 2, we’ll start to break things down and piece things together – literally! We’ll be talking about how we fragment molecules using Tandem MS, and how we couple mass analyzers together to make hybrid instruments. We also have our first workshops – on sequencing peptides manually, as well as data processing & FTMS simulations.

Wednesday: Wednesday kicks off with ICRs and Orbitraps, and is followed by some application intros – Metabolomics, Ambient Ionization and Lipidomics. The afternoon brings our annual excursion to Lokrum Island, which you can read more about here.
Thursday: On Thursday things look a little different – we’ll have our Careers workshop with Industrial Faculty – “The Skillsets that Industry Value“, followed by workshops in Chromatography and Informatics. In the afternoon, we’ll have our 2nd Sponsor lecture from MSVision, given by Dr. Steve Daly.
Friday: All good things must come to an end, but not before lectures in MS Imaging, Intact/Native & Top-Down Proteomics and Protein Footprinting. We also have 10 minute talks from students who won the poster prizes. Our final Sponsor Lecture closes out the week, delivered by Victor Spelling of Thermo Fisher. Then, its time to bid adieu to a full week with our Banquet Dinner in the CAAS Courtyard.
The MSBM program is designed such that students benefit from a wide breadth of mass spectrometry knowledge and applications, but its also structured to ensure that you have time to be able to learn through working directly with faculty and fellow students through exam questions. You can see the program by clicking here.
(Please note: This is a draft program and is subject to change)
MSBM will run from the 5th to the 10th July 2026 this year, hosted in the UNESCO World Heritage City of Dubrovnik, Croatia. MSBM is an excellent opportunity to experience a crash course in Mass Spectrometry Fundamentals & Applications, meet with industrial experts and vendors, and build your network with peers and faculty. You can read more about our 2026 Faculty so far here.
